Respiratory Technology Corporation (Restech) announced the relocation of its corporate headquarters from San Diego, CA to Houston, TX.
After a decade of growth while headquartered in San Diego, Restech sought greater growth opportunities in Texas. Management, marketing and operations now function out of Houston, while manufacturing remains in the hands of our expert team in San Diego.
Houston has a lot to offer as it has quickly become a leader in biotech. The city has over 4,000 life science and research firms and 100,000 workers which has spawned cutting-edge discoveries and development of various diagnostics and treatment technologies.
Another draw to Texas was a newly formed partnership with the Texas A&M University Biomedical Engineering Department. In 2015-2016 Restech participated as the sponsor of a group of four senior engineering design students from the University. The team, mentored by John Hanks, Professor of Practice and Department of Biomedical Engineering, designed and built a working prototype medical device based on Restech’s requirements. The team managed the project with mentorship from Restech, conducted design reviews with Restech, and laboratory tested their design. These creative seniors met with medical professionals to gather first-hand market data and demonstrated their design in a presentation to both the Texas A&M faculty and Restech. The team won first place for their project and presentation.
“Texas has an atmosphere of support and collaboration relative to our business. Our decision to move to Texas was driven by the State’s pro-growth environment, our partnership with BioTex Inc, a medical engineering firm, and resources at Texas A&M University College of Engineering.” (Debra Krahel, Restech CEO). Ms. Krahel added that the concentration of customers on the east coast and central US, and a time zone closer to our European distributors adds to ease of communication”
Restech’s new address is 114 Holmes Road Suite 201 Houston TX, 77045.
