Respiratory Technology Corporation (Restech) announces that C. Daniel Smith, MD will serve as Restech’s Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Smith is an internationally recognized surgeon based in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Smith brings expertise and strength in strategic leadership and commercialization of medical innovations. He has served as Chief of General and GI Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine; Chair, Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville; and currently serves as Editor-In-Chief for the Journal of Laparoendoscopic & Advanced Surgical Techniques. Dr. Smith will provide medical leadership and direction in product evolution, further defining Restech’s role in the diagnosis and monitoring of reflux disease.

Dr. Smith is an entrepreneur, innovator and change agent in healthcare. He is the founder of PureFLOW-HC, which provides consulting services and proprietary software to optimize patient flow for hospitals. Dr. Smith has serial successes commercializing medical devices, recently having served as Chief Medical Officer for Torax Medical, Inc., which sold to Ethicon, part of Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, in early 2017. Torax offers the LINX® Reflux Management System, a small implant comprised of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores, which augment the body's natural barrier function to prevent reflux.
